About Couch Box Sports

Who runs Couch Box Sports, what the blog covers, how articles are researched and checked, and how to reach the people who write them.

What you are reading

Couch Box Sports publishes when there is something to publish. There is no schedule and no filler, and every piece stays in the archive even after we have changed our minds about it.

Couch Box Sports is what happens when you spend enough money getting Sports talk, fantasy football and sports gaming wrong that you start keeping records. The records are the site.

How we work

Nothing here is written from a search results page. If we have not handled it ourselves or spoken to somebody who has, we leave the topic alone until we have.

We are independent. Nobody pays for a favourable mention, and the wording of an assessment does not change because a partner asked.

The full process, including corrections and commercial links, is set out on the editorial policy page.

The topics

  • Games. Sports video games and gaming culture, from franchise modes to online rivalries.
  • NBA. Basketball opinion, coaching changes and the stories behind the box score.
  • NFL. Pro football talk, from Sunday matchups to front office decisions.
  • Fantasy. Fantasy football and fantasy basketball decisions, drafts and waiver calls.
  • College. College football and basketball, rivalries and the players worth watching.
  • Sports Media. How games are broadcast, discussed and argued about.

Nothing gets filed under three headings at once. If a piece does not have an obvious home, that usually means it has not been thought through yet. The busiest sections are games, nba and nfl.

Who writes here

There is no house byline here. Each piece is signed, and each signature leads to everything else that person has put their name to.

Dwayne Pruitt, NBA and fantasy writer. Dwayne has run the same fantasy league with friends since college and still argues about every trade.

Hollis Garner, Football editor. Hollis grew up on Sunday double headers and writes about football strategy without the jargon.

Teddy Okonjo, Sports gaming writer. Teddy plays every new sports title on release week and compares the virtual game with the real one.

The limits of this site

There are questions we routinely decline. Anything that depends on facts only you can see, and anything where being wrong would cost you real money on our say so.

Fixing mistakes

Point at the sentence. Write to info@cbstvsports.com or use the contact page. Factual errors are fixed quickly, and when a correction changes the conclusion of a piece we say so at the foot of the page rather than editing quietly.
